Activities at Kimberley Alpine Resort
Downhill Skiing
Kimberley Alpine Ski Resort has it all: long, wide open cruising runs, glades, steep fall line runs with moguls or groomed by winchcats, and a big terrain park. While enjoying a reputation as a family area, Kimberley BC has terrain to challenge experts, powderhounds and racers. With over 70 honest to goodness trails and glades, the most avid skier will never get bored. What's more, the liftlines are short and the fresh powder lasts for days. Experienced skiers from all over the world are invariably surprised and rave about the variety, challenge and consistently great ski conditions and lack of crowds Kimberley enjoys. Kimberley offers night skiing Thursdays through Saturdays using the high speed quad on the mile long Main run.
A regular stop on the Disabled World Cup Ski Racing circuit, Kimberley has an FIS homologated Super G course with dips and dropoffs that challenge any speedster. The Kimberley Northstar Race Club has a full time junior racing program with topnotch coaches.
Kimberley is a favorite destination for Europeans and Australians on ski vacation, with groups arriving regularly throughout the season from England and Germany.
Kimberley Alpine Resort has a large and experienced ski school for all ages and levels of ability. For the adventurous backcountry skier, there are several snowcat and helicopter operators to take you into the Purcells and Selkirks.

At the sixteenth green lies the Clubhouse, where Kimberley Alpine Resort operates a Winter Adventure Park with cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, outdoor skating, evening bonfires, hockey games and special entertainment.
Just above the Trickle Creek Golf Course, the Kimberley Nordic Club maintains over 33 kilometers of cross country ski trails of varying degrees of difficulty and length with groomed double track ski trails set with a skating lane as well as a variety of groomed single track trails. There is a 3.5 km loop that is lit for night skiing.
Golf

Tall Pines is situated at the 16th Tee and Fairway of the Trickle Creek Golf Course. Trickle Creek is a Les Furber designed award winning course which meanders through the forest on the side of North Star Mountain, the site of Kimberley Alpine Resort. It is also within a ten minute drive of Kimberley Golf Club, established in 1924 along the banks of the St. Mary's River, and the Bootleg Gap Golf Course, a 27 hole course opened in 2001. It is a 20 minute drive from St. Eugene Mission Golf Course along the banks of the St. Mary's River in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. St. Eugene is also a Les Furber designed course opened in 2000 and is part of a hotel/casino/resort operation. It is a 30 minute drive to The Cranbrook Golf Club, another 18 hole championship course opened in 1951. Also within a 20 minute drive are the Way-Lyn Ranch Golf Course, an 18 hole par 58 public course and Mission Hills Executive Par 3, another 18 hole public course.
Fishing
The Kimberley resort area is home to extraordinary river and lake fly fishing for Cutthroat, Rainbow, Eastern Brook and Bull Trout. The St. Mary's, Elk, and Kootenay Rivers offer world class fishing. Several outfitters and guides offer wading and float day and multi-day trips.
Swimming
The city of Kimberley has a newly completed aquatic center, a great place for kids to play while mom and dad relax on the "lazy river". There are several lakes close by to cool off on those hot summer days.
Horseback Riding
Horseback riding in the Rocky Mountain Trench, the Purcells and the Rockies is spectacular. Kimberley has a recently opened Equestrian Center which offers professional instruction and training in English riding and show jumping as well as tours of its 900 acre site.
Mountain Biking
All of the trails in the Kimberley Nature Park are open to mountain biking, offering a variety of experiences from easy logging roads to steep and challenging single tracks. In addition, there are miles of trails throughout the Purcells and Rockies available to mountain bikers. Bikes are available for rent or sale in the Platzl.
Hiking and Mountain Climbing
Besides the Kimberley Nature Park, there are almost unlimited opportunities for hiking and climbing throughout the Purcells and Rocky Mountains. Easy and moderate day trips are accessible from campgrounds and Provincial Parks near Kimberley. Moderate and challenging day trips including Fisher Peak, the pyramidal mountain on the left, start at trailheads deep in the mountains accessible by vehicles over logging roads. Multi-day hikes and technical climbing routes beckon in both mountain ranges.
